Did You Write Today? — Time Management

This is the question I get the most and don’t understand.

When I first got the question, I felt proud. Someone was interested in my writing. I told them I write every day before I go to work, and after my kid has gone to bed(theoretically gone to bed). People, especially Co-workers continued to ask me, almost on a daily basis if I had written before I went to work.

There was an obvious fascination even tho I didn’t (and still don’t) understood it. I have since learned that the fascination was more about how I manage my time than my writing.

For me, writing every day is as normal as brushing my teeth. I think about writing before I think about my bad breath.

If you love something, the problem isn’t finding time, it’s not to let it consume you

Every day when I go to bed I have the feeling of underachieving. I should have written more, drafted more, outlined more, read more.. and so on.

Today, when I am outlining this article, I have written two articles(roughly 1500 words), outlined two other articles, this one included, and worked two hours on my novel. Still, I feel that I woulda, shoulda, coulda done more.
